Emma Martin is artistic director of United Fall (formerly Emma Martin Dance). Recent and previous productions include Dancehall (Dublin Theatre Festival 2015); Tundra (Dublin Dance Festival 2014); Dogs (Dublin Fringe Festival 2012); Listowel Syndrome (Dublin Fringe Festival 2010). Dogs received Best Production and Best Design Awards in the 2012 Dublin Fringe awards.
Emma is dance artist in residence at VISUAL, Carlow since 2012. She became Dance Ireland’s inaugural Associate Artist in 2011 and a Modul Dance artist in 2012. She holds a BA in Drama & Theatre Studies and Russian from Trinity College Dublin and a state diploma from the John Cranko Staatlichen Ballettakademie in Stuttgart, Germany. Her work has been commissioned by Dublin Dance Festival and co-produced by Dublin Theatre Festival.
She has also choreographed for theatre, most recently Romeo & Juliet (Gate Theatre 2015); Luck Just Kissed You Hello (Hot for Theatre/ Galway International Arts Festival 2015); and The Internet is a Serious Business (Royal Court 2014). Upcoming collaborations include The Taming of the Shrew (Shakespeare’s Globe, May 2016) and a new work in development with writer Chris Thorpe, supported by the National Theatre Studio.
Her work is supported by The Arts Council, Carlow County Council, VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art Carlow, Dance Ireland and Modul Dance.
